Tell us more about your curated shop: Able Shoppe and how you turned your love for vintage into the brand it is today? Able Shoppe, a curated vintage concept shop, began as a passion project in college to fuel my vintage obsession and express my growing interest in sustainability. Since deciding to pursue the business full time 5 years ago it has grown with me as my taste has evolved. The Able Shoppe brand is an expression of my style and a space for me to play creatively. Travel, food, vintage homes, vintage coffee table books, nature and people are important sources of inspiration for me. I love what I do!

How do you like to play with both contemporary and vintage pieces in your wardrobe? I think mixing vintage and contemporary clothing pieces is a key to styling up an interesting outfit! I value investing in quality basics and layering vintage statement pieces to add my own flair. For example I love pairing my Noble waffle thermals with a chunky vintage knit sweater or a 1970s Penny Lane coat.

What does sustainability mean to you? I am always learning more about sustainability and discovering new practices to incorporate into my life and business. Currently, I am really motivated by eliminating as much food waste as possible from my cooking and grocery shopping. Additionally, I focus on sourcing quality fabrics and materials when curating collections for Able Shoppe. I’m learning a lot about natural materials and how the way they're produced plays a role in sustainability. That’s a big part of why it’s such a joy for me to re-contextualize existing garments and objects!

What are you listening to or reading right now that has you feeling inspired? I am a big podcast girly. Recently I have been listening to This American Life, The Frugal Friends, and Pre-Loved podcast. However, my reading habits go in waves and this year I feel inspired to listen to more audio books because that tends to work best for my current season of life. Right now I am reading “You are the one you’ve been waiting for” which is about internal family systems.

What are your goals for Able Shoppe as we move through 2024? I am feeling really jazzed about 2024! I have a sense there is going to be a big shift in my business and I am not quite sure what that looks like yet. In the meantime, I am pursuing new opportunities to find clarity in that arena. Currently I am running my business in Chicago and have a shop residency at The Sunday Standard and an outpost at The Center of Order and Experimentation. My hope is to grow as an artist and a business woman while creating more work/life balance. Cheers!
